Presentation Skills

Hooked from Hello

Hooked from Hello is a presentation skills workshop for teams. Everyone learns to open strong, structure a message so it holds up under questioning, and deliver it so the room keeps listening. Everyone presents their own real material and gets coached on it. Sixty minutes to a full day, virtual or in person.

The work is good. Nobody was ever taught how to make good work land in a room, so it gets explained twice and still does not stick.

Craft a message that grabs attention, structure it so it sticks, and deliver it so people keep listening. For teams who present, pitch, demo, or share research, and for the engineer presenting to a VP or the VP presenting to a board. It’s the workshop most teams book first, and the one clients license so their own facilitators can deliver it.

This isn’t a lecture and it isn’t a slide deck. Everyone in the room gets a turn, and Ashley will use your name. Not to call anyone out, but to make sure it was worth showing up for.

Anyone whose work depends on being understood.

Engineering and product

Technical readouts and demos

Explaining a system to people who don’t work on it, without losing the detail that matters or drowning them in the detail that doesn’t.

Sales and marketing

Pitches and customer conversations

Opening strong, handling the pivot when the room goes a different direction, and closing on something other than "any questions?"

Leadership

All-hands and board rooms

Executive presence that reads as calm rather than rehearsed, and a message people can repeat accurately after they leave.

Tell me how much time you have.

I’ll recommend a length, or build to the window you already have. Longer sessions are more reps, not more slides. Here is what changes as the session grows.

60 minutesEveryone leaves with the framework and a shared vocabulary for the rest of the year. Content-focused, works in a big room.
90 minutesEveryone tries it. Live practice, feedback in the moment, and enough time for the thing to stop being theoretical.
Half day and upEveryone presents and gets coached individually, on their own real material. This is the one people still talk about months later.
Something specificIf there’s particular content your team needs taught, or a moment they’re preparing for, the session gets built around it rather than adapted to it.

With more people, the attention per person goes down but the interaction doesn’t. I move it into breakouts: small groups still practice, still get live coaching, still ask the specific question they came with. They work through real scenarios, debrief how they would actually use it, try it on each other, and leave with a plan to use it again. Tell me the headcount and I’ll tell you what shape it takes.

Add the Lab

Everyone presents real material. Their actual deck, their actual meeting. You get real practice with a real coach, and you benefit from hearing everyone else’s feedback too.

Ask about the Lab

“I still think about the hook-writing exercise every time I open a slide deck.”

The things people ask first.

What is the difference between presentation skills and public speaking training?

In practice they’re the same craft at different scale. Public speaking usually means a stage, a keynote, or a large audience. Presentation skills usually means a meeting, a demo, a readout, or a pitch. This workshop covers both, because what makes a keynote land is what makes a Tuesday status update land: a hook, a structure, and a delivery that keeps people with you.

How long is the workshop?

Sixty minutes, ninety minutes, half day, or full day. Sixty minutes delivers the framework and a shared vocabulary. Ninety minutes adds live practice. Half day and up means everyone presents their own real material and gets coached individually.

Is it virtual or in person?

Both, plus global hybrid where some people are together in a room and others are dialing in across time zones. Virtual sessions are live and interactive, with breakouts and real coaching. Cameras on, and everyone gets a turn.

Can our own facilitators deliver it?

Yes. That’s the train-the-trainer route. A version of Hooked from Hello gets co-built around your context, then up to four of your facilitators are certified to deliver it, with a full kit branded for your organization.

Tell me who the team is and what you want them doing differently. I build the session around those answers, and then read the room on the day.
